Essex Removals

Our strongest ground

Long-distance removals from Essex

Six major roads meet in this county, which makes it one of the easiest places in England to move out of — whether you are going to Glasgow, Truro or anywhere between.

Most removals firms in Essex are built for moving people around Essex. We are built for the moves that leave it, and the reason is simply geography.

The M25 and M11 run north and west, the A12 takes the Suffolk coast, the A120 crosses to Stansted and the Midlands, and the A13 drops to the Thames crossing and the whole of the south. A load out of Brentwood or Thurrock is on the strategic network within minutes of leaving the driveway.

Direct load or shared load

On a long route this is the decision that determines everything else — the price, the dates, and how much flexibility you need to have.

  • Direct load. Your goods travel alone and arrive without a transfer, on dates you choose. You are paying for the whole vehicle and the whole journey. Right when your dates are fixed by a completion or a job start.
  • Shared load. Your goods travel with other consignments heading the same way. The saving is substantial on the long runs to Scotland and the West Country. The trade is that collection and delivery fall inside an agreed window rather than on a nominated day.

If you are moving into an empty house with no chain behind you, the shared load is usually better value. If there is a chain, take the direct load and stop worrying about it.

What we need to know

  • Both addresses, and the access at each end. A long move still finishes with somebody carrying a sofa up a staircase.
  • Whether your dates are fixed or flexible — this is the direct-versus-shared answer.
  • Whether anything needs to go into storage at either end.
  • Anything heavy or awkward — a piano, a safe, a workshop machine — so the right kit travels with the crew rather than being discovered on the morning.

Overnight on the longer runs

On routes to Scotland, the far North or Cornwall there is an overnight stop. Your goods stay in the vehicle, sealed and strapped as they were loaded, in secure overnight parking. Driver rest periods are mandatory and we schedule around them rather than pretending otherwise.

Wherever the route allows it, the crew who loaded your house are the crew who deliver it. They know how it was packed, which matters more at the far end than people expect.

The roads out

Where Essex connects to

M11 north

Cambridge, the East Midlands and on to the A1 for Yorkshire and the North East

The Harlow and Epping side of the county is on it immediately.

M25 west

The Chilterns, the M40 and M1, Birmingham and the North West

The orbital is the gateway to everything west, and Brentwood and Thurrock sit right on it.

A12 north-east

Ipswich, Norwich and the Suffolk and Norfolk coast

The route out through Colchester and the Tendring side.

A120 west

Stansted, Hertfordshire and across to the Midlands

Useful from Braintree and north Essex without dropping down to the M25.

A13 and the crossing

Kent, the South Coast, and the M20 for the Channel ports

Thurrock’s road. Fast when the Dartford Crossing is behaving, and planned around when it is not.

M25 south then M3 / M4

Hampshire, Wiltshire, Bristol, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall

The West Country run. Distance makes the direct-versus-shared decision matter most here.

Questions

Long-distance moves — questions

Where do you move to from Essex?

Anywhere in mainland Britain. The M25 and A12 put the whole network within easy reach, and a Thurrock or Brentwood load is on the strategic road system within minutes. Scotland, the North, the Midlands, the West Country and the South Coast are all ordinary work.

Will the same crew deliver as loaded?

Wherever the route allows it, yes, and that is our preference — the people who packed your things know how they were packed. Very long routes involve an overnight stop, which we plan for rather than improvise.

Where does my furniture stay overnight?

In the vehicle, in secure overnight parking, sealed and strapped as it was at your house.

Can you move us in stages?

Yes. Part loads, a storage period in the middle, or a first trip with the essentials and a second with the rest. All normal, all needs agreeing in advance so the crew and vehicle are booked correctly.

Next step

Moving out of the county?

Tell us where you are going and whether your dates are fixed. That one answer decides whether a direct or a shared load is the sensible way to run it.
